This was my first Sheldon novel and I had no idea what to expect. Now after completing this book I sit with a regret as to why I haven't tried any Sidney Sheldons. Sidney Sheldon in his book Master of the Game , describes the unique story of Kate Blackwell, the protagonist of the novel – through the journey of a girl and her metamorphosis into a woman. A trip down the dynamic memory lanes from her early teens to her old age. The novel portrays five generations captured into one book - all of them striking in their own way. The novel is not only mind blowing but also awe inspiring.
The whole plot revolves around Kate Blackwell. The novel begins with her and ends with her as well. As the reader gradually turns the pages of the book, they witness the changes in lives of Kate Blackwell’s parents, Jamie and Maggie Maguire, her son Tony Blackwell and his twin daughters Eve and Alexandra.
The story flashes from past to present and again to past without leaving any scope of ambiguities or confusion for the readers. The author portrays the leading protagonist Kate Blackwell as a strong, calculating and shrewd woman who outwits and overshadows all the other characters. Even her evil spirited young grand-daughter Eve is found lacking compared to her infinite charm and charisma. Sheldon has merged sex and power-play in an outstanding fusion.
Life of Kate Blackwell was definitely portrayed as a roller-coaster ride. She is a strong, virile, intelligent and powerful woman with a mind sharper than a knife's edge, who sets out to conquer the world and comes out to be the true Master in the game of life.
One of Sheldon's most sensational masterpiece, the best -selling author undoubtedly brings out an unputdownable book that would make the reader’s heart beat faster with the turn of each page.
This book had everything...drama, mystery, love, romance, manipulation, thrill, drama...you name it.
