March 24,2015
Whenever I ask my friends, teachers about American embassy library, only answer I get is "the security procedure is so tiring". I used to wonder and think they don't exactly tell me about the books, environment and the people around there. But keep on explaining about the security procedure. That was little weird!!
Now, after my visit to embassy today I know why people are bragging about it. I would not call it bragging cause I know now it is actual reality. Come on, I have been checked like 4 times during my visit to library. They check you starting from main entrance, then entering in building, after entering building and then before going to library. lots of procedure!!! Not only this you wont be allowed to take any of your possessions in the embassy. Well not allowing bags I understand that but your cell phones, any of your cards that was too much. But to think it on other way around, it was cool of them to maintain that level of security. I bet this was my first experience to go through such level of security checking apart from my airport experience.
Talking about the library experience, as expected I find it very peaceful and has maintained it standard in a good way. I was pretty excited to find fiction books which I have not read before. In order to borrow books from the library, I also applied to become one of its member. For the membership card, one has to pay 200 and the card had to be renewed after 6 months with Rs100.
By that card, one can borrow 2 books for 15 days. After that, fine of Rs.1 will be added in case of late submission.
Looking forward to use the facility of the library... :D
